Play Houses For Kids
Do you allow neighbor kids to play at your house EVERY day?
We have a neighbor boy who, as soon as he gets home from day care, he is 6 and in daycare for the summer, comes over to our house and knocks on the door. And wants to play in our yard. He doesn’t have a swing set or other outside toys. Our kids have tons. He is kind of a brat and sometimes the kids don’t really feel like playing. Do you have similar issues? What is your tactful way of saying no?
I have a neighbor like this. Well, he has plenty of toys at his house… but he’s the 4th child, with only older sisters, and I think he’s bored alot, lol. Anyways, almost every day after school he’s ringing our doorbell. Sometimes my son likes playing with him, other times either him or I (lol) are not in the mood to have him over. I just bluntly tell him we can’t play now, and to go home.
I had asked a similar question a while ago about how to deal with my neighbor, and I got some really good suggestions from people – one I liked was telling the boy that if the garage door is open, its ok to come over and play, and if its closed, we can’t play. Or encouraging him to call first.
Good luck!!
