Plans For Kids Playhouses

I want to build?

a simple playhouse/storage building for my son amd myself respectively, and would like to know if anyone could give me some tips on the easiest to do. I am a little savvy in the carpentry aspect of SIMPLE things, for exmple, studs 2*4, sheetrocking, but one problem I have is roofing and how to connect the walls. I would like to use regular ole pine studs and use 3/4″ plywood for the floor. The walls on the outside will be easy—just some siding. I plan on insulating with 18″ insulation(rolls) and then sheet rocking. Yes, tape and floating also. I helped my dad(rip) many years when I was a kid with this stuff but he always had the walls up and concrete floors all I had to do was insulate and sheetrock…any advice would be greatly appreciated….have a good one

For your floor I would have to know what size you are building.

If I understand your question on the walls then this is what I would do.

For the walls. You will need to cut 2×4″s to measure all the way across the longest side(cut top & bottum plates at the same time to make sure thay stay exact. Then if you are sheetrocking the celling you will have to add the thickness of the sheetrock to your wall hight i.e.1/2″ or 1/4″ & subtract the two plates which will be 3″(for example 8′ walls cut the studs 93 1/2″ if using 1/2 sheetrock or 93 1/4″ for 1/4″). Then mark the plates every 18″ & go back & mark ever 1 1/2″ past these marks & your studs will go in between these two marks.

Do both long walls first then measure in between the two walls fo your next platesbut on this wall you will start your 18″ marks 3 1/2″ back(first mark would be 14 1/2″ then every 18″). Make sure you measure in the same direction all the way around(say clockwise).

I would build complet walls all the way around & the go back & cut out doors & windos to cut down on confustion. It will only waste a little meteral. On this to build the headers just put two 2×6″s togather with 1/2″ meteral between them Cut them to go 3″ + however thick two door faceings will be longer then the door(I would build them out of 3/4 sheeting). Then put in jack studs.

Anything else I would need more info on the building.

I hope I didn’t step on anything you already know.

Good luck & if I can give any more info just email me at kingmt01@yahoo.com.
